Thanks to the close cooperation between science and industry, it was possible to use natural fiber composites for the first time in the production of high-quality musical instruments. The VARI process (Vacuum Assisted Resin Infusion) enables natural fibers to be processed in a resource-efficient and precise manner. The result is the Spock Bass—an instrument that impresses not only with its excellent sound but also with its sustainable choice of materials and modern manufacturing technology.
The Technology Transfer Award 2025 recognizes the outstanding achievement of both partners in successfully transferring innovative research results into industrial practice, thereby setting new standards for sustainability and quality in instrument making.
